Born and raised in Argentina with Italian ancestry, Luis first toured Japan in 1978 and has been a resident of Japan since 1985. Commonly referred to as “Mr RRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr” (R – Triller), Luis is an extremely versatile and multitalented Latin musical artist.
His talents include Radio DJ, Spanish/Italian/English/Japanese Narrator & Announcer, Charango Master, Composer, Arranger, Multi-instrumentalist (Charango, ukulele, guitar, keyboard, various percussion, Tiple, Tres, Cuatro, Guitarron), Vocalist, Private Teacher/Clinician, and all-around Musical Entertainer.
Luis received official recognition from BMG Victor for his key contributions to the Orchestra de la Luz “La Aventura” album, which was nominated for the Best Latin Tropical Album in the 37th Grammy Awards in 1995.
Luis known as a big soccer fan, composed a song “Viva Nippon” to cheer for Japan’s national soccer team in the FIFA World Cup in 2002. As well as being contributed as composer, Luis performed in a movie “Inamura Jane” which was directed by Keisuke Kuwata, also in a documentary “Voces Latinas” features on Latino immigrants in Japan.
Luis has recorded and appeared in numerous radio and television commercials for companies such as Sony, Inter FM, BMG Victor, Subaru, NTT, KDD, NHK, Polymate, Rolex, Sanseido, and many more….
Orchestra de la Luz “La Aventura”
Luis Sartor made key contributions to the Orchestra de la Luz “La Aventura” album, which was nominated for the Best Latin Tropical Album in the 37th Grammy Awards in 1995.
He also created the interactive show “Latin Carnival”, in which many Latin American rhythms and instruments are introduced to audiences of all ages, allowing them to play, sing, dance, and to learn about each instrument, giving them a colorful and crazy way of reducing the stress of daily life!
